Introducing Julius

Hello world. My name is Julius Vaughns. If you haven’t already heard of me, don’t worry about it. I’m no one special, just your average Joe.

Currently, I reside in Aurora, Colorado, a suburb of Denver, which has been my home for nearly all of my 25 years of life. I come from a very tight-knit family, whom I give all of the credit for helping mold me into a respectable, decent young man.

I’m a 2002 graduate of William C. Hinkley High School in Aurora, and on some days wish I could go back for a moment in time. Being out of high school made me realize how easy of a life I had. Not that mine is extremely hard right now, but I could stand to not have to worry about any bills for a while.

It was at Hinkley where I discovered my love for writing and, after serving two years as staff writer and editor of the school’s yearbook, I continued to pursue my education at Franklin College in Indiana, earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism in May 2006. There, I wrote for the college’s weekly newspaper and was able to craft my skills with the help of terrific professors and three internships at local Indianapolis and Denver newspapers.

Upon graduation, I found an exciting, yet challenging position at YourHub.com, a community journalism Web site and weekly publication, where I managed several of the site’s pages, wrote stories and designed the print publications. Considering it was my first ‘real-world job’ out of college, I think I learned quite a bit and had a fun time doing it.

However, after about 2 years, I realized that being a full-blown journalist was not for me, thus bringing me to the world of blogging. From what I understand, I’ve been missing out.

So, bear with me as I plan to delve into some of my favorite topics, including sports and music. I promise to make this as enjoyable of a read as possible.

Thanks for having me, and happy reading.
